Build on Your Lot

Your land. Your home. Our process.

Whether you’ve owned your land for years or just closed on it last week, we build custom homes on lots across the Greater Triangle — with a process that’s simple, transparent, and step-by-step so you always know what’s next.

Why Hornet

Building a home should feel exciting — not overwhelming.

Too many people feel alone in the process. We don’t think it should be that way. From the first conversation to the day we hand you the keys, you’ll have a small team that knows your home, your land, and your timeline — and a builder who picks up the phone.

How it works

Three phases, no surprises. Every step has a clear next step.

01

Plan together

We start with a conversation — about your land, the home you’re picturing, and what timing makes sense. From there, we walk your lot, evaluate what’s possible, and help you find a floorplan that fits (or customize one of ours, or build fully custom).

  • Discovery call — 15-30 minutes
  • Lot evaluation & feasibility
  • Floorplan selection or customization
02

Lock in the details

You get a clear, upfront proposal with every line item visible — no vague allowances, no surprises later. We handle the permits, finalize the design, and line up the build calendar so you know exactly when ground breaks.

  • Transparent line-item proposal
  • Design finalization & selections
  • Permitting & site prep
03

Build it right

About five months of construction once permits clear. You’ll get regular updates and walkthroughs at every milestone, with our same small team from foundation to final inspection. We come back at the one-year mark for a nail-pop and touch-up visit — most builders have dropped this; we haven’t.

  • ~5 months from permits to keys
  • Weekly progress & milestone walkthroughs
  • 1-year workmanship + 10-year structural warranty
What’s included

One curated Hornet Standard finish.

We use the same trusted suppliers, materials, and craftspeople on every build — the result is a consistent, high-quality finish you can count on. No “good / better / best” tiers to navigate, no upcharge ladder. Pricing reflects what’s actually in the home.

About your land…

Wherever you are in the process, there’s a next step for you.

Have a lot already?

Great. Send us the address (or a Google Maps link) along with anything you know about it — survey, soil report, deed restrictions, the works. We’ll walk it, check feasibility, and tell you straight whether it’s a fit for the home you have in mind.
